The Empordà, a unique environment
The Empordà is a region of Catalonia just south of the easternmost Pyrenees, which descend to a coastline that, on its way south, features wide beaches and tiny coves, known as the Costa Brava. Those of us who live here, and those who come to spend days, weeks, or months, believe it to be one of the most idyllic spots in the Mediterranean. Perhaps this is because the winds that blow—whether the powerful Tramuntana that blows in from the mountains or the placid Garbí that rises by the sea—carry waves over rocks and beaches, transforming the landscape at every turn and turning it into a fascinating panorama.
The Empordà is now a tourist destination, perhaps of exorbitant proportions, on the "must-see" list of every travel guide. However, if we look closely, we'll discover that it still retains its own unique light, revealing the deepest beauty of this wonderful corner of the world.

For those seeking the authenticity that no excited crowd can erase, all they need to do is visit the Municipal Library in any of its towns and browse the works of the many writers, both local and foreign, who have dedicated their best work to this land. Among them are Josep Pla, Xavier Moret, Antoni Puivert, and Joan Maragall. It's also possible to immerse yourself in the images of photographers such as Català Roca and Xavier Miserachs, to mention just a few whose work is accessible to everyone.
The Torrent Jam Museum was fascinated by the wild beauty of this region, and perhaps that's why it's said that the jams made there are meant to convey the feeling we feel when we're in the Empordà. It's as if we were in an oasis where it's possible to imagine a better world: not only fair and beautiful, but also sweeter. Don't miss this opportunity to visit and see if the jams help you find that path...
